But how do books get from your hands to the shelf? (We all know how they get from the shelf to your hands!)

Aliya from The Spaniel’s Tale local indie bookstore will walk us through the selection and ordering process from trad pub books, consignment for self-pubbed authors, and behind-the-scenes stats for the romance genre: what’s selling well at the store, in the indie market as a whole, and the overall industry.

About the speaker

Aliya Stacey is a bookseller and manager at The Spaniel’s Tale where she runs our events schedule and consignment program. She has an Honours BA in English Literature from Ottawa U and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Creative Book Publishing from Humber College. During her time in the publishing industry in Toronto, she worked at a small children’s press followed by the digital marketing department of Random House through the merger with Penguin. She enjoys a mix of genre fiction, including fantasy, romantasy, and romance. She devoured The Game Changers series (most in one sitting) and has happy cried her way through Heated Rivalry several times.
